What is the difference between CCLI charts and PraiseCharts charts?
You will certainly find a certain amount of similarities to what we offer at PraiseCharts and what CCLI offers. However, I think you’ll find CCLI’s charts to be limited to lead sheets only, with single line melodies and chord names. Plus, I’m not sure if their lead sheets are a direct representation of popular recordings. In other words, you may have to take their lead sheet and re-work it so that it is useful for your worship team to play from and lead from, if you want them to match the original recordings. Our lead sheets offer three part harmonies (SAT in the treble cleff), which is very helpful for vocals. Plus, our arrangements follow the popular recordings – they are set up with proper intro’s, endings, tags, etc. so they are directly useful for your worship team in a congregational leading situation. Finally, all of the Worship Band Series charts include full scored piano parts, separate to the lead sheets. However, please keep in mind that whether you purchase CCLI's SongSelect program for chart, or charts from our site, you do still need a performance license such as what CCLI offers. No matter where you purchase your charts, you do need that separate copyright permission. If you do not have a CCLI license (or similar license), then you cannot use any portion of the song or lyrics publicly. You can read what the license covers at http://www.ccli.com/WhatWeOffer/WhatYouCanDo.aspx. CCLI is very helpful in answering questions about copyright regulations. You can contact them at (503) 257-2230.
